Listening to your body and what it’s trying to tell you may be the best thing you every do for yourself.

Your body communicates with you all the time. It tells you when your tired, when you need to refuel and hydrate, if you are getting sick and need to sleep or if you are too stressed.

However, in recent times its become clear that we deliberately ignore our bodies messages to be able to deal with modern day pressures.

This however, is not always a good thing! Here are 4 reasons as to why you should start listening to your body again!

1) The need to eat well

Fact of the matter is, you’re most likely eating foods which are damaging to your health but ignoring the tell tale signs that you are slowly doing damage to your body.

Bloating, feeling sluggish, stomach cramps, sugar highs and lows, bad breathe are some of the ways the body is trying to tell you to stop eating what you’re eating and give it some better foods!

So what can you eat to make your stomach happy again? Drink lots of water, eat lots of vegetables with good fats, proteins and limited wheat, grains and legumes.

2) Stop yourself getting sick

Tell tale signs that you white blood cell count is getting higher beside the obvious sniffles and coughs can be feeling dehydrated, lethargic, tired for no apparent reason and headachy.

If you would rather avoid a week in bed, best make sure you drink a lot of H2O, get as much rest as you can and stay away from strenuous exercise.

The more rest you get the quicker you should recover. Also making sure you are eating enough vitamins and minerals is essential.

3) De-stress and chill out

How stressed are you? Ever break down or get sick? Are constantly tired and over worked? No matter how busy you may be, it’s crucial for your health to spend some time relaxing.

You may think you have ‘no time’ but actually you will improve your productivity and capacity to work, if you clear you mind of all you need to do and relax doing something you enjoy. This could be working out, reading a book, taking a power nap or relaxing by the pool. Even a coffee or tea to give you some head space and chill out.

4) Move and exercise

Get your butt moving! Not only does movement and exercise make you happy by releasing endorphins, it can help decrease your blood pressure, and keep you active for longer in your later years!

Finally exercising outdoors and getting some vitamin D can be a great way to unwind and boost your immune system!

You can hopefully tell a lot of these are interlinked, eating well and hydrating yourself will help in all aspects of health, while making sure you have time to de-stress will help stop running yourself into the ground and getting sick. Moving and exercising can also help you unwind.
